Why Blenheim Fire Exists
The fire risk assessment market often splits between volume providers who issue templated reports and product-led firms whose advice follows what they sell. Both can leave the responsible person holding a document that does not stand up to scrutiny.
Blenheim Fire exists to do the work properly: independent of any product, accredited under a third-party standard the industry only enforces voluntarily, and delivered as a considered, personal service for clients whose premises and responsibilities demand a higher level of attention. The business has operated as Blenheim Fire Ltd since its rebrand in 2025.
The Blenheim name
Some businesses are named for a market position. Blenheim Fire is named for a boat.
Mark Pashby's father was a fisherman. He admired Winston Churchill. When he commissioned his own vessel to a shipyard in Banff, Scotland, he named her Blenheim, after the palace where Churchill was born.
It was a remarkable undertaking for a well-known fisherman in the Scarborough fishing community, where generations worked and lost their lives at sea. He had the boat built to his exact specifications and took out a substantial personal loan to pay for it, placing the family on the line at a time when borrowing on that scale carried real weight. Among the family papers, a letter survives from those months: a note he wrote to Mark's mother during the build. So does the wedding photograph from the same period.
The boat was a working life and a private ambition rolled into one. It carried a man who had no interest in cutting corners and no patience for half measures. Years later, when the business was rebranded, Mark chose the name carefully. It honours his parents, Tom and Duna, their history and memory, the work that built the boat, and the conviction that some things are worth doing properly or not at all.
That standard now sits behind the Blenheim Fire name. It shapes every assessment, every report and every client relationship.

Mark Pashby and Kate Corner lead Blenheim Fire personally. They attend sites in person, write the reports themselves and hold every project to the same professional standard.
Mark Pashby
Founder and Lead Fire Risk Assessor
Mark has spent twenty-five years in the fire industry, twenty of them as a fire risk assessor. He founded the predecessor business in 2019 and rebranded it to Blenheim Fire Ltd in 2025.
His career in fire safety was preceded by ten and a half years in the British Army, four of which were served in the SAS (Special Air Service). The professional disciplines that defined his military service (accuracy, calm under pressure, and the interpersonal skills required to work across complex environments) continue to define the way he approaches assessment work.
Kate Corner
Business Manager and Fire Risk Assessor
Kate runs the operations of Blenheim Fire and is a qualified fire risk assessor in her own right. She manages the planning, information requests and client communication that sit behind each assessment, and attends site visits alongside Mark.
Her role brings together operational responsibility and assessor competence. The same attention to detail that keeps each project organised from first enquiry to issued report also helps ensure every client receives a consistent, professional and considered service.
A foundation of professional standards
Clear professional credentials, audited oversight and continuing professional development shape the work Blenheim Fire delivers. As regulation continues to tighten following the Grenfell Inquiry, third-party accreditation has become the standard expected of competent fire risk assessment providers. Blenheim Fire already operates to that standard voluntarily.
